Bezděz CastleKing's Gothic keep founded in 1260 by Přemysl Otakarem II. Since the end of Hussite wars the keep's owner changed from king to aristocracy. Among the owners was also Albrecht from Valdštejn. Then it was used as a monastery. Begun turning into ruins since the end of the 18th century. Intensely reconstructed in the last 50 years.
Karlštejn CastleHigh Gothic castle founded in 1348, which has a unique position among Czech castles. It was built by Czech King and Roman Emperor Charles IV as a place for safekeeping of the royal treasures, especially Charles's collection of holy relics and the coronation jewels of the Roman Empire.
KřivoklátThe castle of Křivoklát belongs to the oldest and most important castles of the Czech princes and kings. The history of its construction starts in the 12th century.During the reign of Přemysl Otakar II. a large, monumental royal castle was built to be later rebuilt by king Václav IV. and even later generously enlarged by king Vladislav of Jagellon.
Hluboká nad VltavouGerman Frauenberg, is a town in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, near České Budějovice. This town was a favourite of Charles IV, who often visited when residing in České Budějovice. It is best known for its famous Windsor style chateau. The original royal castle of Přemysl Otakar II from the second half of the 13th century was rebuilt at the end of the 16th century by the Lords of Hradec.
Kutná HoraKutná Hora was a challenge for even Prague due to its wealth and architectural imposition during the height of its economic prosperity. The town is dominated by the Temple of St. Barbora, the patron saint of miners. Its foundations were laid in about 1380. There are several other architecturally imposing churches standing in the town, which were founded in the 14th century, for example, the Parsonage Church of St. Jacob and the Church of the Virgin Mary.
KokořínThe fortified palace with a tower was built by Hynek Berka around 1320. At the end of the 15th century the castle was renovated in the late Gothic style by the lords of Klinštejn. Since the middle of the 17th century Kokorín had been tenantless and it deteriorated. The ruins were not bought until 1894 by Václav Špacek of Starburk, who decided to renovate the castle. The architect, Eduard Sochor, was a leader in this project and, considering its occurrence between 1911 and 1918, it was one of the latest Romantic restorations of a Medieval object.
